Eh, I think it's ok to look to your social circle for a long term relationship. Sleeping around with friends of friends is a recipe for disaster.

Fuck this. I'm not afraid of strangers but I'm also not nearly as attracted to them. Personality and familiarity and friends in common matter a lot. I'm not concerned with the power dynamics because I'm secure enough not to be unsettled by competition from other men (who are apparently above this rule and free to date their colleagues). There's no blind luck involved here because I've had plenty of time to gauge whether she's interested in me. Now give me some better advice than "don't do it" because I'm going to be the brash asshole the article describes and do it anyway.

Also saying women like power is too narrow. Expand this to include status as a whole and you might be getting somewhere.
