Many of my friends are showing White Knight tendencies. How can I cause them to realize the way they are acting without seriously offending them?

I think you are entirely wrong.

Let me explain:

There are women who love the nice guy, and the white knight, and there are also women who love the alpha male, who takes charge and gives orders. Everyone is different. What they don't like is a guy who pretends to be who they aren't.

This applies to a guy who is using friendship to try and upgrade to a relationship, which at its core is inherently dishonest. Women respect honesty.

Which approach to you think would work better for your friends?

"Hey, I like you a lot. Let's talk about your feelings, and help you figure yourself out!"

-Solid friend, not really dating material unless you're very attractive.

"Hey, I like you a lot. I would like to go out with you, and assuming that goes well, date you!"

-Still friendly, but with intentions spelled out clear as day.

I really think that deep down, the friendzoned and white knight guys know that they would be rejected outright if they just asked for it, so they maintain the illusion by just pretending to be the girls friend.

Don't get me wrong, I understand that impulse completely. But it won't end in sex or a relationship.

One of my friends has been orbiting a girl he was friends with in high school. He's 26 and has confessed to this girl that he liked her. The girl has dated three guys since then but he still hangs out with her.

I just want to punch him and tell him to pull his head out of his ass.

If he just started dating other people and letting her know that he wasn't as available he would at least have a chance with her ...

You can't tell them, you have to show them. Give them concrete examples, point out losers, etc.

For example, I was at a party, and there was only one decently hot single girl there. This one guy was trying to Game her, but spending much too much time with her (no sense of abundance). It was working initially, but she was getting bored.

It just so happened that there was a Natural present. The girl got up to get herself a drink (the Babysitter was Gaming, remember?) and when she did the Natural pounced. Less than two minutes, and he made his decision -- pass. He didn't want her after all. She went back to the Babysitter, but his shit was over since his Game failed in the face of a Natural's competition.

I called all of this ahead of time (because I knew the Natural was a Natural), and it was quite impressive to my friend that I pointed it out to. It showed that I knew my shit when it came to interpreting women's actions, rather than their words. Impress your friends like this once or twice, and they will listen to you from then on... unless they are egotistical fuckheads who can't learn, in which case they were hopeless from the start.

Ok here is what you should do. Chill with one of your bros. No other friends, just you two. Smoke out, get buzzed, whatever. Approach the topic VERY obliquely i.e. Dude, you ever notice how girls always try to talk their way out of anything they do wrong? Eventually start discussing how guys egg them on by white knighting and how it is not masculine behavior. Good luck.
