So a little backstory. I'm a 25 y/o male and I'm a virgin who rarely if ever gets a date (think I can count on one hand the number of dates I've had via online). Kissed 3 girls in my life, and other than that my life has been void of women.

When I'm not thinking of women, I'm generally content with my life; I have a good career, amazing family, have a small group of friends (they suck with women too but they don't seem to care), and have some hobbies I enjoy (introverted). Whenever I start to think about how much I've missed when it comes to women, this sadness literally overwhelms me and I feel helpless. I feel like I'm getting old and I should have at least had a girlfriend by now but I'm not sure what my problem is. I seem to have insecurities when it comes to girls in general (hate the idea that girls have ONS, are slutty, good girls are rare, etc.). I come from a conservative family so I feel like this is where it stems from. It just feels like a mountain of problems when it comes to women are in front of me, sometimes it feels like it's easier to just forget about them and accept that I'm gonna be single but I don't want to run away because it always comes back to haunt me. I also don't drink alcohol and I've never really enjoyed the bar/club vibes.

I just don't know what steps I should take to get better at this. I've gone out in the day to approach and I usually never end up doing it... either pussy out, feel like a creep going out hitting on girls, or whatever.

My problem seems to be pretty isolated, it's just with women. I can make guy friends so easily (i.e. can talk to a guy at the gym no problem and befriend him pretty easily. However, I can't bring myself to talk to a girl at the gym.)

I don't know what the fuck is wrong with me and I need help to fix whatever this issue is. I'd appreciate perspective from someone who's kinda been through the same shoes as me and maybe tell me what he did to improve but any advice would be nice.

I'm honestly considering therapy but I'm not sure if it'd help with anything nor do I know what type of therapy should I be going to.
