From what I've read, many PUAs don't drink while in the field. Mystery encourages sargers not to drink so they don't have their faculties clouded by alcohol (and probably also because so they can overcome social anxieties while sober in order to really grow as a person and PUA)

I Tindered up a Spanish stewardess who had a stayover in my city, and she wanted to go out clubbing with her colleagues. It was quite eye-opening to see this German guy join up her group of three and explain that he didn't drink ("I do a sober year every once in a while," he said). He had his tongue down one of her friends in no-time. I rarely go out clubbing so I don't see many real players in action.
It felt a bit imbalanced that her friend was wasted as shit and he was sober and focused like an arrow -- but I don't begrudge him his success. I went home with my girl too in spite of being under the influence.

For a while I thought the German guy got both girls since they went back to the airport hotel in the same cab. So I had to ask my girl the next day out of pure curiosity; but apparently that's not what happened. Third girl had a boyfriend as well.
