I'm going on 10 months of being single after the mother of my child and I split up (for a second time) after dating for 4-5 years and raising our 3 year old son together. The majority of the time together was spent in a college town that had plenty of opportunity to talk to girls, but of course having a girlfriend and a son (I guess you can call that a family), I never did talk to any girls. Once. Not even in a conversational way (unless it was school related for a project or whatever.)

Before that I dated a girl in high school and was on and off for about a year before I met baby mama. So really I have dated two girls in the last six, seven years, and any interaction with other girls in between the two girls was never too extensive.

I'm about to turn 25 next month, I have my awesome 3 year old son, but I want to get back out and date, meet some girls, have fun and mess around, but maybe try and look for wifey while doing it. I do have my convictions on if it's the right thing to do right now in my life for me or for him. And plain and simple: I do have a bit of a hard time talking to women, but have been getting better lately. I've talked to a couple different girls that work at the mall I work at (including one who is gorgeous and has got me sprung like TPain), but I have yet to ask a girl for a number/drink/coffee/etc.

I guess what I'm trying to get is just some advice from anyone. Other single dads, girls, guys who had a similar situation and found someone, anyone. I've been doing better as far as being conversational with women but just having trouble going anything beyond that.
