Exposure therapy: Just keep talking to them, and eventually talking won't seem as weird. Then start flirting with them, and eventually that won't seem so weird either. You're 17, so even if you embarrass yourself in front of every girl in your high school, who cares? You're about to go to college and meet hundreds more in a year or two.

Its hard to dismiss what you have been told your whole life, that women are special to you. I'm afraid the only way to get over it is to experience that they are not. If you wanna speed up the process you should surround yourself with men who already know and act on that women are not special

i think at your stage of the game, anger is a potent tool. if you can't just say something to a person without them being an asshole to you to control you, what kind of person are they?

So is it fear of rejection that makes you choke up? When learning o play guitar, you have to build up a callus on your hands. The only way to do so is to keep playing. The way this applied to you is that you need to keep talking to the girls an to build up a thicker skin.

If it's just one girl in particular, and you repeatedly choke up, it's time to regroup. See in your mind you've subconsciously decided you are going to fail. Don't get hung up on her, move long to another. Gain experience, and grow.

To get past this (I) talk(ed) to ALL women - to old ones, the ones you are not interested in, fuglys and land whales. A good place is the grocery store or clothing store. Start with just eye contact, then add "Hi." Then add "Hi, can you help me find XYZ." Then, go to a place like a big garden center or big box store (Home Depot, etc.) - where younger women work. Ask a cute/hot employee to 'help you find XYZ.' Then, on the way to the item, make up shit about what you are working on/trying to do - anything to talk with the cutie/hottie. You don't have to buy the item. (I still do this just for the fun.)
