It's not about making your work seem sexy. It's about showing you have passion for something. You could be a garbageman and say you're cleaning up the city and making it beautiful for everyone.

When girls ask this question, they don't really care what you do or how you say it.

Essentially, what they're doing is vetting that you aren't a 20-something-year-old-loser still living with his mom and watching Seinfeld reruns in a sweaty basement.

So as long as you have a job of any type or have SOMETHING going on, you're in the green.

With that said, I do have a template that anyone can leverage. I call it "Refer to a movie". It helps paint the picture of what you do.

Example: I work in business development in Silicon Valley, so I would typically say something along the lines of, "I work in business development. Have you seen Wolf of Wall Street? Well, imagine that, but without the cocaine and the angry phone calls. That's what I do."

You could say something like, "Have you seen those movie scenes where some dude is looking at complicated graphs and charts on a computer screen? Well, I do that, all day, for banks. Sounds super interesting, I know."

It doesn't have to be funny. It doesn't have to be interesting. It just has to be something. Do not overanalyze this.

"I do [occupation]. Have you ever seen [movie or movie scene] where [stereotyped way of doing occupation]. Well, I do that, except it's a [cooler/more boring/more complicated]."

Oh don't say that. Say "I work in finance" then change the subject. If you want to convey that you're making a shit load of money, mention finance then be evasive.

Just say "Im a financial analyst" in a positive way but not like you are bragging. no need to over think it. You have a good job. "financial"= money "analyst" = you are smart. Good qualities. act like you like it and you'll be good.

You don't always have to make it sound interesting. Tell her what do and give her just enough to understand it. If she expresses more interest and asks you about it, tell her what you geniunely enjoy/think is cool about your job. I'm also an analyst. Most of time the I just tell girls I work as a strategy analyst, basically just helping the business make more intelligent decisions. If they ask more I tell them about what's unique about my company and my job in it. I like to highlight that analysis is just one part, at the end of the day you're trying to drive a business decision. Having insight into the right move and working closely with people to make it happen, Find things like this you genuinely value about your job and convey it. This goes for any topic in general.
