ROK's article on How To Get Respect As A Man got me thinking about the dynamics of respect in Game.

If a woman you meet is showing disrespect, she's either shit testing because she's attracted, or she considers you beneath her... If her signals are mixed and she remains engaged, she probably likes you. If she gives you a look of contempt and turns away, she doesn't respect you.

Now, she could initially blow you off and find out later that you're successful (I see this all the time). Suddenly she changes her tune and shows interest in you. She offers respect only because it's your resources she covets... That's the equivalent of the Beta guy putting the HB up on a pedestal and fawning over her.

If you give a woman too much respect, she sees you as weak. It's a clear sign of Beta-worshipping.

If she gives you too much respect, it's a sign of desperation.

If you reveal that you need respect, she can work that angle on you
