This could be a long one so I'll try and keep things succinct.

A girl I have become acquainted with at college (who is on my course) has recently begun revealing a more reckless side to her personality. Not long ago her bf broke up with her. They were long term but long distance and she recently told me she was never given a full explanation. I'm confident this is true. I do however have my theories as to why they might have broke up.

Last year she made a number of comments that were undoubtedly there to enforce the idea that she was in a strong relationship, and i'm pretty sure they were aimed at me. Could have been because she isn't interested in me, could have been to reassure herself but there was at least one forced statement that didn't really fit the context of the situation.

A little about me: I'm 19, short (5ft 6), slim and to be honest not good looking. I have a few confidence and insecurity issues that are probably a result of my appearance. Through high school I developed acne and It is only now becoming discreet. I have definitely improved myself from a few years ago but I still struggle from lack of experience with girls through my teenage years. (only had one girlfriend, still a virgin)

Back to the present. Over the summer we never saw each other but stayed in contact over snapchat (think daily pictures). Before we see each other her bf breaks things off and a little while later I'm asked by one of my friends about her since he(my friend) was asked who I was from one of her friends. Anyway this girl likes to play games and she can because she's fairly attractive. It is precisely for these reasons that I don't know what she thinks of me or where I stand. We haven't been overly flirtatious but recently she's started messaging me like you would to a boyfriend in a sometimes cheesy way. Great right? WRONG.

After I reciprocate in a way that manages to test the waters without being overly flirtatious, I'll often get an 'Awwww' or 'i'm so happy right now' as a reply. I've been getting the impression that i've been friendzoned but i'm not sure. She's sent teasing pictures like a 1 second picture of the top of her pants before playing it off as a joke but I think she's just trying to fuck with my head. I know she gets a kick out of being admired. Since she broke up she's gone wild.

She's quite comfortable around me and has told me of her recent sexual escapades involving 3 different guys. I think i'm one of a very small number of guys she would open up to about these things. I think part of the reason she has been telling me about her sex life is to prove that she's gotten over her ex as she's been describing herself as on the market and a different person. She might just be using me as bait but I really don't know. We went out together one night to an event and are planning on going on holiday as part of the group that organised said event. A few weeks ago she asked for my number when we've been communicating perfectly fine over snapchat. Anyway I didn't send it straight away as I thought it might have been one of her friends on her phone and I wasn't prepared to start receiving prank phonecalls all night or come across as overly eager to give it to her (stupid excuse, I know). A few days ago one of our mutual friends whom she was with at the time asked for my number so I gave her it. She failed to text me her name (so that I would be able to save her number too so i knew something might be up.) Now last night I managed to work out that 'mutual friend' never even saved my number but -due to both of them slipping up- had to have given it to the girl I've been talking about in this post.

I don't mind having a platonic relationship with her but I do mind not knowing where I stand. Sometimes I'll make fun of her in a teasing way but It's become apparent that It might be getting to her, perhaps even putting her off me if she feels like I don't take her seriously or respect her. The thing is I don't feel like she fully respects me either. She'll do things like burp in front of me and then fall into a fit laughter when I act disgusted (not so disgusted that she feels ostracized), that's not the kind of thing a girl does in front of someone she considers a potential partner, is it? Maybe she's too comfortable around me but I still don't know If that puts me in the friend zone or not. She also hugged me last night and asked me why I didn't hug back (my hands were full).

Basically I would like some advice on where you think I stand and what I should do. Right now I plan on improving myself physically regardless and ignoring her when she starts talking about her sex life. Other than that, I'm all ears. Glad you made it this far.
