The key is to keep trying. You're right, it is kind of an emotional job search. The first time you're out looking for a job, you have no idea what to do, so you apply a lot and strike out a lot. Eventually some place gives you an interview and what do you do? You show up dressed nicely, with no idea what to expect, and totally bomb it. Not everyone does, some are lucky, but I think most do. And you keep bombing interviews until someone actually gives you the job. At that point you probably won't screw things up too badly, but you wind up getting better and better as time goes on. I think most people's first job they get by being a little overqualified and underselling themselves.

Through this whole process you learn and grow, and you slowly develop an innate sense of what to say and do to get a job, but also to make sure the job is right for you.

In both it's a learning process, and the more you learn the better rewards you reap. But if you get emotionally attached to the outcome then failing becomes harder, and you're not as willing to put yourself out there and try again.

I was there and recognizing you need to work on your weaknesses is a great step, a lot of guys don't even recognize they have to improve. I suggest going into study mode and just read the side bar here. Tons of great material here and you just need to suck it all in by reading and watching videos.

I'd actually start with a couple books, since you need social help I highly suggest the book how to make friends and influence people. It's a great read and will help you become better socially. Also start reading some self esteem books, one I like was the six pillars of self esteem. It's eye opening and can really help you recognize self sabotaging behavior
