Call her out on it, or tell say "Aaaaannd?" to make her give you longer answers.

If she is boring and can't hold a conversation call her out on it. "Stop being so tense, loosen up a bit and you will see talking can be fun" or "Are you nervous?"

Sentences and paragraphs are your friend, I can't understand what you are saying.

Why ask questions? Talk about yourself. Okasionally ask for stories, not answers. If she doesn't give up tell her that you find it offputting to have a conversation with a door.

She won't make an extra effort to be interesting. Going out with her is your idea so she expects you to be interesting. Tech-talk isn't. I know, I'm a techie. You need to figure out anything she can relate to for filling conversation/time. You need this really only to get emotional cues in & to physically escalate attraction. Then you're back to making out and fuck it about the "one night stand" it's not necessarily "at night" you can find a spot if you want it bad enough and she does too.

Too late now but you could have her home way before 3 if that's a place you can fuck her. You can present that by flirting, escalating, ensuring she's partly chasing you for the fuck and wanting it bad enough to go along with this. You can't be all-advance with this strange girl & expect 100% success every time.

You didn't provide enough details but I'll guess you're not good at making conversation outside your comfort-zone, or asking quick leading questions that force, not hint but force, a sensible response with detail that you can work with from there once she speaks.

You also mention nothing of her body language: legs crossed or not, arms crossed or not, standing, sitting, lying down on beach towel, near you or far, snuggled up to you, all of that is important. More important than what she says.

I'm pretty damn good at first dates and first impressions - its easy for me though, I grew up overseas, have generally just had many ridiculous experiences.

My general strategy when things start to get a little silent or awkward (and lets be honest, it happens to be the best of us all sometimes) is to just tell some story of something that happened recently. "So the funniest thing happened last weekend..."

Usually a random story will lead to conversations going in any of a thousand different directions - if she's incompetent then just tell her more about various things connected to that original story and so on. If you have had a boring life, just make up random shit or tell things about what happened to your friends.

Most girls are pretty awful at social interactions during dates - they've just relied on guys to do it all for them. Don't expect them to ever really contribute much.
