If your trying to approach before your in a social mood you're going to have a bad time

If you don't have much confidence and the belief in yourself then this is true. Approaching itself PUTS YOU in a social mood. I do warm up approaches all the time. All you have to do is say to yourself "these first three approaches don't count and I'm just warming up". If you're scared of rejection or have a low level of self belief or really internalize people's reactions, then I could see how it would have a negative effect. But even then, the answer is to keep doing approaches until you're over those things through exposure therapy.

Even approaches just out and about when I'm in a bad mood I'll still do. Because sometimes it still goes somewhere. Only approaching when you're in a social mood is like only going to the gym when you feel like it. You're not going to make much progress and it usually just means you're lazy or still very sensitive to rejection.

You can still do it, but it might be clunky and awkward. It’s like going for a run without a warmup or stretch. Like you can do it, but your more likely to fuck up than if you warmed up.

Todd v talks about this religiously he says he will do a stretch jumps just to get into the mood also show up early and be sociable
