Recently I have been playing a little game with myself to improve making eye contact. I used to get slightly embarrassed when I would glance at a pretty girl and she would catch me looking at her. As soon as we would make eye contact I used to be the first to look away. As a way of improving confidence when it comes to maintaining eye contact I started making an effort to sustain eye contact with girls as I walked past them in addition to shooting a smile or even saying hello. I’m a college student so this became a daily routine for me as I walked to class and crossed paths with people. As I started doing this, I started to notice some trends. More often than not, by maintaining eye contact with girls I would often get a reciprocated smile or even catch some girls blushing and quickly looking away. By practicing this little game as I’m walking to my destination, it has drastically improved my confidence in looking girls in the eyes (especially very attractive ones) and to an extent helped combat my approach anxiety. To anyone else who struggles with eye contact, I would suggest trying this and take notice of how girls react to you when you make eye contact. The key is to do this without looking like a creep so shoot them a genuine smile or even say hi to them after locking eyes
