Everything here was supposed to disappear. Banned subreddits, deleted communities, cancelled blogs — much of what is archived here survives nowhere else.

It stays free — no paywall, no account — for the next man who comes looking, the way it was free for you.

I pay for the servers, the storage and the bandwidth myself. If you want this record still standing in ten years, become one of the people who keeps it online.

Too many new guys, thats why. New guys come in, post something and other new guys read it and assume it is redpill worthy. Cycle repeats.

[–]StarWarsPlace2 points3 points4 points 12 years ago [recovered] (2 children) | Copy Link

A lot of long-time lurkers need to come out and start suppressing this shit.

I've been guilty of just lurking, but am fixing that now by down voting and reporting anything that has a hint of BP.

Nearly 2 years ago we were at 4,000 subscribers, now we're at 47,300+, our message is getting just as inflated as our growing user base. Maybe it'd be best for the sub to go private.

[–]EducatedCavemen0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I agree, this sub going private might help. even if it is for a period of time.

[–]StarWarsPlace0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I think going private for a short period of time might actually be a good idea. Let some of the 20,000 new guys that came in the recent months catch up before more new guys come in.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Yeah but there hasn't been an exponential increase or anything, just a few thousand new members on top of an already very large member base.

[–]averagecycle2 points3 points4 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

yes there has, subscribers have more than doubled in just a few months

[–]iStillEatSnakes2 points3 points4 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Good point, i don't fear downvotes, but the last time i called someonenout on this sub--and stood by my statement. I got hit by the banhammer. For all its open mindedness and critical thinking this sub is also susseptible to hanstering. It usually happens that way when a sub goes from invisible to hugely popular (or infamous). Accounts are free and karma is cheap, its just annoying to have to wait 2 weeks to be able to post again.

On a side note (tangent) i love this sub. I've been working as a bluncer for 6months, and been on this sub for about half that. Its amazing how reading the content here contextualizes what i see every weekend. Behave like a hard-ass, kick a few ppl out, ignore cute girlsthat cone up to me--then come backultiple times and chat me up.

It's a matter of lessons learned. If you aren't able to learn from a post that doesn't mean that it isn't vitally important to someone else's RP growth. I am relatively new to RP, though some of its precepts I've naturally used throughout my life. And maybe it's just me, but goddamn if I don't learn some life changing nugget just about every day. I welcome the repetition because I want this philosophy/facts/method/nature/whatever drilled into the very core of my being.

So the fuck what if it's angry. Who the fuck are you to judge whether a post is solely meant to rile people up. Even if that is its purpose, why would you want to stop that? Anger is one of the best motivators we have at our disposal. If you feel that it's directionless then that is your problem. A problem that you could remedy by posting what you deem to be worthy content, rather than this bitch fest. Be the change you want to see in the world and all that crap. Not to mention the mods are already cleaning up the place.

[–]Endorsed ContributorInvalidity3 points4 points5 points 12 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

You have to realize though, that a lot of the situations that many men could learn from are situations that will make many of them angry.

Take for instance, divorce. There really isn't an abundance of information that can be given out on that topic other than, "You're likely going to get screwed over."

How about the realization that despite your best intentions, your girlfriend or wife may end up cheating on you anyway? You can teach self-improvement, but much of self-improvement hinges upon one's own willpower.

There are many subreddits for self-improvement topics but in all honesty, what people coming to TRP need is an eye-opening. They need to realize that this world is not black and white. It's all shades of nasty possibilities.

This ends up with content that may not be in fact thought provoking... but most of these situations/circumstances aren't in fact very intellectually provocative. It's just, "Well shit, why didn't I see that coming?"

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago* (1 child) | Copy Link

You have to realize my point. I'm stating the issue is that many posts serve no other purpose BUT to rile up the mob in order to gain attention to the post. There is no meaningful analysis, just regurgitation of the same situations we're fed routinely in other threads.

When you read humpty dumpty multiple, does the ending ever change? No. So...now what? Well now you get to the brass tacks, why was humpty a jackass? What poor decisions did he make? What were the results?

There's a difference in in stating someone is wrong, and explaining why they're wrong. Which one do you think will ultimately create a better person?

[–]Endorsed ContributorInvalidity0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

True, a lot of these situations are constantly recycled, but so are the themes. The idea is that we are getting more and more new subscriber each and every day, and a lot of other visitors as well so some of the content is new to them.

Personally, I feel as if the posts have been very shallow lately, but there has been some insight in the comments within the threads.

You as well as everyone else is welcome to submit original content.

"I'm past it, now you should be also!"

[–]rickaboy0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Its like they need a /r/redpilllevel2 sub. So much basic content is repeated.

As with any subreddit based on somewhat intangible material, the ratio of signal to noise is gonna get worse over time as it becomes more heavily populated and as the ideas are more thoroughly explored. There's only so much revolutionary shit you can say.

Read and upvote what's signal, downvote and move on from what's noise. Just like I'm doing to your post.

[–]ThatsRite-1 points0 points1 point 12 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

So, skip the post then...

Internet policemen..

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 12 years ago* (2 children) | Copy Link

I do skip it. I have to wade through the flood of trite bullshit to get something worthwhile on a forum that is supposed to be a "Discussion of sexual strategy in a culture increasingly lacking a positive identity for men." not a clipboard of copied google articles. I'll go to r/news if I want topical information.

[+]ThatsRite-6 points-5 points-4 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Some might consider your post clutter...

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

True. But I backed up my thoughts instead of just leaving a link. Would that not be clutter as well?

[–]2 Senior Endorsed Contributorvengefully_yours-1 points0 points1 point 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I love my down votes, especially when they are from posting reality, harsh reality is heavily down voted.

[–]white111-1 points0 points1 point 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

yup - it's like listening to a bunch of children ( who are coke-heads). some good ideas and info here, but the egos !....

[–]Unconaction0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I agree white111. Sometimes, I need to read some of the pitchfork laden BP examples, not as much about getting riled up, but a gut check reminder about the BP world around us.

It's not like I'm pointing and saying how fucked up beta they are as much as looking at a mirror of my previous self.

The ego-posts, sometimes they're a bit over the top, but ya know-some of the posters have done some amazing turnarounds. The youngsters here, I like to hear their stories of RP transformation. Game tight, lifting, building businesses & careers, knocking back plates, etc- fucking warriors.

Perhaps you should contribute some quality rather than lurking and adding to the low effort posts.
