I think you need to learn people first. Learn to be a social human being who is comfortable in his own skin. Yes, talking to women takes a certain level of confidence and a little savviness, but first foremost, women are people. If you aren’t good with people, you aren’t going to be good with women.

All of the experienced guys here will tell you that they feel comfortable talking to anyone, woman or man.

So, my advice is get comfortable with people in general first. It’s gonna sound cliche, but join some clubs. Make friends in your dorm (if applicable). Just get out there and start making friends. Once you’re comfortable (and actually look forward to!) meeting people ¹ , then start chasing women.

^¹ ^{That’s not to say you always have to be up for meeting someone. There are times when I’m just in an uncomfortable mood. That’s okay, but when I approach and get to know women, I make sure I’m in a mood where I want to do it.}

^{A bit of life advice is that everyone is a prima donna to some degree. In other words, we love to talk about ourselves, and women care when a man actually wants to know more about her. In my opinion, it’s very difficult to fake genuine interest unless you have very advanced game. Women see right through that shit. Become genuinely interested in what other people have to say, what they’ve done, who they are. It’s almost like Stockholm syndrome in a way. If you keep telling yourself and doing things that an interested person would do, you’ll actually become interested in people.}

Edit: There are awesome resources in the sidebar that apply to both women and people in general. If, after you’ve read those, you need some clarification, feel free to ask. Just remember that you’ll get different perspectives on things because game, just like life, works different for everyone. For example, I can’t pull off the intimidating badass, but I can pull off the mysterious, witty charmer. You’ll get different opinions here. Find what suits your personality and your game.

Edit 2: I forgot to mention not to get caught up in the stuff you read. It’s good for some footing, but if you try to rely on it, you’ll be overly analytical and won’t know what to do with yourself. Use it for the foundation, but don’t rely on it. You’ll fumble around at first, and that’s okay. Soon enough, you’ll start to intuitively pick up on cues, nuance, body language, etc. All of this is a matter of exposure. Practice makes perfect.
