Eh I think bailing on someone who approaches you is a bad way to get them to be interested in you.

When she said “we’re celebrating me”, that’s a stupid line and she knows it. When her friend said she’s gorgeous, you should say something like “ya she’s pretty cute”. Don’t go along with the gorgeous thing, play it down a bit cause otherwise she’ll start feeling superior to you, or she’ll have gotten the validation she was looking for and wouldn’t need you anymore.

She didn’t know what to say to you, and she felt rejected when you left to see your friends. This would make insecure girls that already know who you are jealous and want you more, but it makes random girls uninterested in you. They want validation, but not praise. Give them validation in small doses and they’ll crave larger doses.
