How do I develop a more well-rounded, less-niche sense of humor?

My sense of humor is somewhat limited. In front of my friends, I make tons of obscure weird references and inside jokes/memes and be hilarious... To be honest, you could probably call it more of a nerdy humor.

However, when it comes to dating or meeting new people, I find it hard to tailor my humor to them. Please don't say "only date/meet people who get you" because if that were the case, my obscure jokes would probably only make sense to less than 1% of people. How can I improve this?
