My roommate and I call it “smelling the ask”, I work at a Starbucks and I’ve worked at plenty of bars to see the same shit happening over and over, there’s two parts of it that make it especially noticeably creepy

First: when the guy uses objective language to give me a compliment, for example “you’re really hot”, instead of saying “I think you look great”, THE LATTER IS PREFERRED because it takes away the mans objectification of me and gives the responsibility of his words back to himself, not to mention it that overly sexual and aggressive language doesn’t always appeal to women whether it’s just the setting it’s said in or their preference for it not being said, just stop calling random girls that make your coffee “hot” or “baby” or “sexy”, it’s not charming, I don’t know you and it’s possessive and creepy

Secondly: When you’re just trying to sleep with a girl I know I don’t have a hard time sniffing it out, this (mixed with the language form part one) creates the smelling the ask concept. So if a guy comes up to me at my coffee shop and compliments me objectively, then makes small talk about my appearance, he’ll talk about himself (which I can read like a script because it follows patterns in any self help book), if I don’t respond enthusiastically (which I normally don’t because I can tell at this point what he thinks he’s achieving), at this point I’d either receive “negging” which is also fucking annoying because insulting someone for not flirting back with you is rude as all hell, or they simply ask when I’d like to get together (IVE NEVER NOT BEEN ASKED TO A COFFEE SHOP) even if I’ve already told them no they just don’t seem to catch it. Because they want something so badly they ignore the actual responses the person they’re trying to get it out of gives.

All in all you have to learn to be comfortable with rejection first and foremost, I’m not gonna lie, there is not a real happy feeling with rejection, but don’t tell yourself nobody wants you, I get more spiteful and think okay another one bites the dust. And when you approach a girl really try to take a moment to see if it’s because YOURE interested, or whether you’re just trying to fill a gap. Be honest with yourself and with her, “I think your eyes are beautiful” take control of your thoughts, And own your actions, otherwise we’re in a relationship with another fake or ghost

Tl;dr shut up and read this, I’m a studying relationship counselor and even this over generalized suggestion is worth your time

So much of it is just about reading body language. You can tell whether a girl is neutral, super into you, or would rather you leave her alone
