Hello, first time poster here.

Here's some background: I met a girl a couple of weeks ago at a dance. We talked for a bit and exchanged Facebook info. I haven't talked to her until a couple of days ago when I was at a movie with some friends and thought I saw her at the same movie. I asked her about it over messenger, she confirmed she was there, and then we talked about the movie for a bit.

I then asked, "Hey (insert name here) I enjoyed getting to know you when we last met, and I like that we have some things in common. I'd like to get to know you better over some coffee or a beer. Would you like to go with me?"

She replied, "Thanks, I had fun talking with you too, however, I'm not interested in you that way."

What course(s) of action can I take to overcome this obstacle and try to spend time with her? I feel confident in my abilities to escalate if I could meet her, I'm just not sure how to get there.

I was thinking something along the lines of 'I never asked her on a date'. but I'm not sure how to do that without sounding like I'm backpedalling.
