Just my initial thoughts...

Apparently plates tend to only last 6 months at a time, then they usually want commitment, etc.

That or its a commitment test. If its just a test ignore it and push through.

soft-next / always-be-replacing. The girl should feel lucky to be a hook-up instead of being ignored. If she was worth something more she'd be told that already and this is a sort of shit-test that she dares you to break frame and show emotions / need only so she can stomp it. She doesn't want that for real from you or she'd have pushed earlier for it and more than a little.

Follow up question: do you guys make it explicit to your plates that they are what they are, or is there a more subtle approach to telling someone you're just looking to hook up? Can't imagine that conversation going well.

It's just a plate, don't care. She is trying to push you into LTR - show that you are willing to drop her if she won't commit to your frame and she will hold on to it.

All plates drop eventually.

It's a shit test of sorts. You're not looking for a relationship, but you enjoy spending time with her. Soft next, maybe she'll continue contacting you and you can keep spinning.

Either way, start looking for the next one.

If a plate really starts giving you shit about commitment or feeling used, etc. tell her something like this:

"I'm just looking to have fun and make friends right now. It's nothing personal, and I love hanging out with you. I'm not looking for anything serious but would consider it in the future."
