Hi everyone, I've been back in "the game" for the past two months, I've met some cute girls, got some numbers and some dates, nothing else happened beyond dating but I keep working on and improving myself. So far, so good.
However something odd happens to me and I'd like your opinions about it. As the title of the post states, sometimes I get nervous when I try to approach a girl, sometimes I don't get nervous at all.
For example, I saw a super hot girl a couple of weeks back in a festival at the college where I work, I tried to approach her but couldn't find her after the festival was over. I remembered her face and I happened to see her today. Now, I though about how I would approach her, which openers I could use and all of that. However, as soon as I saw her I got super nervous and couldn't do it.
Last week I saw another cute girl in the bus and she happened to sit next to me, I looked at her and smiled, she smiled back and I just started talking, without a plan or using any smart ass opener/technique. I just was being myself but remembering some practical advice about conversations. At first she was replying me with short answers but after 5 minutes or so she warmed up and gave me longer answers, shared a couple of personal feelings or opinions about things I asked her and we laughed a bit. She told me has a boyfriend but she had a nice time with me and we should meet again, so we exchanged our info.
I got back in the game because I found Corey Wayne's book "How to be a 3% Man" (THANKS TO EVERYONE HERE WHO RECOMMEND IT TO ME) and since then I read it and read more materials, watched some videos and practiced with every approach I make. The thing is, if you get nervous, Corey suggests to approach anyone in any context in order to loose the fear of approaching and don't get nervous talking to strangers. However, since I was a kid I've been meeting strangers and been friendly to people everywhere: in the bus, at the office, at my workplace, at my lunch/dinner place. I can easily start a conversation and talk with anyone about anything, or listen to what people has to say in a polite way. Older people like to talk to me, they tell me that all the time, because I am a good listener. Also I am good at giving speeches to huge audiences and handling their reactions (a month ago I was the only speaker who got applauded after his presentation during an event with more than 10 presentations).
So...WTF?
I think my problem is I get nervous when I think too much about approaching a girl. I have done it before, think what I will say or what I could do to make the conversation interesting but when I make my move I get nervous, shaky and sometimes sweat a little (ugh). However when I just "jump" into action (the 3 seconds rule), I get nervous the first minute but then everything goes fine.
So, what do you think? I would love your opinions, thanks!
