Most intermediate types I've seen tend to have one of two major sticking points. They've gotten to the point where they can approach girls and talk to them, but then typically make one of two mistakes.

They either "overgame" a girl where they hit her with so many compliance tests and teases, that either she says to herself "why am I bothering with this guy!?" or she has a good time with you but because there's nothing either root or reward the attraction, she loses interest and probably flakes.

Or they "undergame" a girl and focus so much on having a good conversation that there's no sexual tension, and they take you for granted, figure you're not interested or gay (or too shy to flirt properly), and you're on the express train to the friend zone.

The trick to escalating is in how you frame it. The idea behind gaming a girl is that you tease or lead her, implicitly asking for her compliance, she gives it, and you reward her by building rapport or escalating. The secret is framing escalation in your own head as building rapport, because when she's ready for it, that's exactly how it feels - you're giving her what she wants. Don't believe me? Wait till you have a girl literally beg for your dick ;)

Ultimately, seduction is a balancing act between rapport, attraction, and value. Overgamers build attraction, but lack rapport and value. Undergamers have rapport but typically lack attraction and to a varying extent, value. Your value to her as a man comes from your ability to sexually gratify her (there are other things, such as emotional intimacy, attractive lifestyle, social status), but it all comes back to the ability to give her what she wants. But without the attraction and rapport, she won't be interested in your value as a sexual being.

The ground work is already done. You got her number man! Now when you text her for the first time, keep it brief, ask maybe one question before you drop a "hey let's grab a drink at Shooter's 8pm friday!" ... At that point you'll find out. Stop seeing text messages as a place for conversation. Ensure that the majority of your conversations are done in person.
