Okay, randomly in the street: not weird, as long as the guy is 100% prepared to be rejected. I’ve had it before and it’s actually quite nice in an old school way. I had a guy ask me out in public once and while I didn’t say yes, I did make it clear that I really appreciated it and respect his guts. Good for him.

I think the key is - regardless of what the asker looks like - is an understanding that the askee is under absolutely no obligation to respond affirmatively. If they’re a decent person they’ll be polite about it. No harm done. I think it’s helpful to be mindful of age though. Some 14 years olds look 22 these days. Be careful hey.

(How does it feel? I don’t know, how does it feel when people ask you for directions? You take it in your stride as and as you grow older you become both more accustomed to and respectful of the exchange)
