My roommate is my younger brother, who is always in the living room playing Fortnite. How do I effectively navigate this situation when trying to close?

I mean that's kind of a perfect situation in a way. "damn my brother is gonna be using the tv for awhile. We can watch _____ in my room" or "I'd love to hang out more but my brother is home and sort of hogs the living room. If you want we can chill in my room or go back to your place?"

I don't think many would look down on your situation. Nothing wrong with a roommate, especially your brother you're helping out.

you gotta talk to him about it. Let him know that you need the place free for yourself. It's not just his home and it is also not yours. Go and get an understanding of that first. Then set a day and time that he'd be gone on a regular basis or at least at a moments notice. Getting a heads up, after talking it out, is the best plan I've come up with.

The girls you bring into your home will have to get over what you have in it. Yeah, it isn't ideal with your brother playing Fortnight all the time but, if he makes her have an issue, then she'll probably find a lot more issues with your life. If she can't get over that your brother is going to act like how he acts, and he isn't hurting anyone or anything negative, then you have zero reasons to bring her back. Your brother is always going to be your brother and you should get along with him. Your girl that you'll likely bring over wont be the same girl everyday. You aren't stuck with her. You can get another. You can't replace your brother.

Just clean your house and make sure it's not too jacked. That's what girls care about. Do you take care of yourself? Do you take care of the ones around you? It doesn't need to be perfect. Just, "clean". Make sure there is room to sit. Don't move crap out of her way while she's there. This means clean clothes and things like that. Clutter is clutter, no matter if it's clean.

If she is into you then she might be as eager to get you home as you are to get her home. Ask her where she would like to go. Sometimes girls feel more safe at their house than some mans house they just met. They also feel more safe if it is just you two and not your brother or something. You should let her know beforehand too that your brother is there, well before when you are about to leave. No surprises are better than one or more.

He's your brother. Just saying "hey bro...I need you to leave so I can get my dick wet. I have this girl coming over and you're always in the living room. I want to fuck her in the livingroom...without you there....bro...gtfo for a few hours." "hey bro...I need to fuck and I can't have you in the house when I do it with this girl for the first time. I need to be alone while I bring her to Pound Town. feel me?"

I don't know how you talk to your brother but, remember, you are both adults now. Talk to him like one. He is your little/younger brother and he will always be. He will likely have something to do or you will give him the motivation and reason to get out of the house and do somethign else than play fortnight.

It’s the perfect excuse to head straight into the bedroom.

If he was doing something fucking weird in the living room when you two walked in that would be a different story

I've lived with my brother for 7 years now. You guys just need to come up with a system. We text each other ahead of time if spontaneous women are coming over and the place needs to be tidied. If you need (like someone commented above...it is the perfect excuse to go to your room) the living room, text ahead of time and tell him to play Fortnite in his room. If he doesnt have his own TV he should get one. If hes into dating women, he'll make it work for the both of you. Living with your bro is great.
