So I spent a day hiking with a group of friends (all mid 20s), and I met a girl that I liked. We had some moments to discuss on our own, but it was still very early for me to ask her number. And after that we were all hanging as a group and didn't get the chance to ask for her number.

As next steps what should I do?

1) Ask my friend for her number and text her, or Text her directly on facebook/instagram?

2) When I text her, shall I open up a conversation with her? or tell her directly that I'm text her to ask her on a date?
