I at some point, like many of you, stumbled across the concept of social conditioning at some point, and it honestly was a huge eye-opener for me. I found some ways that we're getting tricked into certain mindsets that I found pretty interesting:

You may not not consume

We're constantly getting taught that we need to compare ourselves by using our material belongings as a measurement scale. The guy with the 7 series BMW is supposed to be better than you, while the guy with the Fiat 500 is supposed to be below you on the scale, just a (very germanish) example. You get totally measured by the luxury you can afford, and usually, people also measure themselves after it. I found that, especially if you're into Buddhist Meditation (mindfulness), you can free yourself from this cage. One of the interesting things is, that going upwards, you can sit in a mansion and be depressed, so even if you had all these things, you would, besides a little buying rush, be in the same state you are in right now, just with some added luxury. We actually think that luxury goods will free us from the prison of ourselves, so to say. Actually, that won't happen. The most sane way to deal with it (subjective experience here) i found, is to stop valueing people with, say a more expensive car higher than yourself, and at the same time, to stop looking down on people with say less expensive cars.

We're getting taught from all sides that luck lies in consumption, whereas that freaking is not true. Stop comparing human beings by their goods, stop comparing yourself by your goods. You are not your belongings, and no one else is.

You need to believe in good and evil

Long story short, when researching the minds of the worst criminals we have around, forensic psychology found that even the most sincerely criminal individuals have coping mechanisms that enable them to stay in the frame that they are the good guys. Like someone with an impulse control disorder justifying himself like "He shouldn't have insulted my mother. I was just defending her. My mother is such a good person" and such alike.

Actually, there are no people who go like "Bwahaahahaha, I now believe that being evil is being good, I will now only do evil things..." like, say in Star Wars. Such people do not exist. Even Hitler, in his world, thought he was doing good by trying to improve the human genepool. There are no people who are, in their world, evil. None. Not one single.

What happens here, is that this "good vs. evil" theme plays a huge role in childrens thinking, and yeah, to most adults who never thought about it, it's still a pretty believable narrative. In the end, we dug those huge trenches in our society, like seduction guys are evil because they are all rapists, liberals are evil because they want to destroy america, and all that sort of bullshit that is getting put in our heads that just contributes to keeping society split apart. Actually, this "split society" is much easier to govern, rule, or use by people who went beyond that sort of thinking (are you with me?), like split and reign. There is no Darth Vader.

Anyone got more input on social conditioning?
