Most men are polygamists deep down. It's a primal instinct that gives men the urge to sleep with multiple women and also to hit on other guys' women.

More controversially I think that women deep down are not naturally monogamist either. They have an instinct to be discreet and to hide this tendency, and society also makes female polygamy highly taboo. But it exists.
