It’s most likely one of two things

1) it’s a soft rejection. she’s making you an orbiter and adding you to her social media followers

2) she’s not comfortable giving out her number or IG could also be her main form of communication.

Either or you should still hit her up and gauge her interest. Also you should look into working on your social media game. Social media is a great way to show value and control how people perceive you.

Maybe you can treat it as a shit test. For example by turning it around.

"Oh don't give me your IG, I'm tired of following instagram babes. There's too many of them and their pictures all look the same. Are you just looking for followers? Or do want lots of compliments and pickup lines in your DMs?

The idea us to challenge her and make her qualify herself to you. Set yourself up as the Judge Judy of social media babes.

"I think you're a cool girl but are you really just living your life on social media?"

Or, when she asks to hit her up on IG say,

"Why. How many followers you have?"

If she says a small number shake your head and say,

"Mmm not very many, not sure if that's worth it."

Or it's it's huge,

"Wow you're hot stuff. If we hang out together do you promise not to be checking your phone all the time?"

Should go without saying, this is all done with humor and your frame is, "Aw that's cute! A social media babe!"

You never ask for a number. This is 2019, you should be getting the insta or snap chat off bat. If she gave it to you like that tho it was a curve. You showed too much interest. You should of said nevermind I don't really use Instagram, I'll just send my owl. Then you laugh and say na I do have one tho I'll add you or whatever but I'm never going to write you now for curving me like that in public so you're going to have to send me a nude or something to get me back interested. At least that's some shit I would say.
