I asked two girls for their numbers today. The first: I was asked to proctor an exam for one of my old professors (completely out of the blue), immediately saw an HB8 (really blonde hair, denim jacket, yoga pants). Made eye contact, held for a few seconds and proceeded to do the exams. Afterwards, I saw her outside on her phone (she finished about 10 minutes before the exams time was spent. So I say Hi. We small talk for a minute or so and I ask for her number and she gives it to me.

The second: I was walking with one of my buddies after grabbing some lunch, and I see this girl sitting down (dyed hair, holed pants, and a flannel). I tell my buddy I'd catch up; he knows exactly what I'm going to do, so he waits a bit away. I ask for this girls number and she says "I have a Boyfriend". I had remembered something I read Monday about what to say, and I said "And I have a dog" with a shit eating grin. She smiles and says "no, sorry." And I tell her to have a nice day, and I walk back to my buddy. (About 30 seconds in total).

So my question is, where do I need to fix up my game? I felt confident going to ask them both, but only got one. Edit: I'm a freshman in Uni.
