I'm late Anger phase and am wondering how selfish to be. What are reasonable limits?
I've met enough Dark Triad people, seen enough advertising, and heard enough pretty lies re-told by people who don't realize they were lied to, to conclude that there's apparently no moral law. It's a struggle to live knowing that everyone's totally free to do whatever they want. I can't even claim to be a "good" person anymore: I've spent thousands on luxuries that could have saved poor peoples' lives, I've benefited from work in morally questionable industries, and looking back I probably misled women about my intentions a few times. At the same time, I was trying to do the "right thing" and didn't have a clear vision of what I wanted to do, and ended up doing poorly while slowly figuring out how the world really works.
So, I have plans. These plans will be fun for me and will take me to interesting and powerful places. But, following my plans means ignoring what pretty much everyone else wants for me.
“The question isn't who is going to let me; it's who is going to stop me.” -Ayn Rand
...ok, got it. I'll say it straight here: fuck everyone else, because I see now that they'll love me for it.
