I recently read about this technique and was wondering if anyone had tried it.

Basically, this guy goes to cheap housing areas near hospitals (the kind that would appeal to young and single nurses) and goes door knocking on a Friday night after anyone who has plans is already doing them.

Whoever answers the door sees a well groomed guy with a bunch of flowers. He asks "is Sophie ready?"

On being informed that Sophie doesn't live here he looks sad and then spins a story about a girl he met at a party who'd agreed to come out with him tonight but must have given him the wrong address.

Then he has an idea. "Say, I've got this table booked at Nice Resteraunt in about two hours, what are you doing tonight?"

In the case of a guy or <7 answering the door, he just asks if this is (address of next house over) then apologises and goes to the next house. The guy would just canvas the neighbourhood this way until he had a date and would move it to a different suburb every week.

It's a bit of a dated approach but I was wondering if anyone here has ever tried something like this and can share the results. Even if you haven't, how do you think it would go in a modern context? Is there anything you'd tweak to make it more appropriate for 2019?
