There are several reasons why she may have reacted the way she did (i.e. the cringe) regardless of attraction. She may not want to seem like the one that has the crush in a friendship. She might have thought the other girl was asking whether you were taken, and she was giving her room to flirt with you. She may have even broken up with her boyfriend for you and now she's embarrassed that after making her move you didn't show any interest.

If you're really interested in moving forward with her, you may want to start by rejecting her just a little. Tell her that you feel like your friendship with her is starting to mess up your dating life, since your friends and family think you're together, and you're spending time hanging out with her instead of finding someone to be with. Maybe you could see yourself with her, but wouldn't it be too weird at this point?

This gives her a choice. She can back off and let you go, or she can tell you that maybe it wouldn't be that weird after all. Either way, you get a push in the direction you need to go.

Remember: Attraction and appreciation aren't the same thing. You could punch a hole in the moon for a girl and it wouldn't make her desire you sexually if she didn't already. No amount of niceness or favors will "win" attraction, often even if they come from a place of genuine appreciation and good character and not from masking your real intentions. Life isn't a RomCom.

The simple fact of the matter is that you have to show her you recognize the side of her that craves sex and intimacy without setting off any fears of violence, abandonment, or humiliation. Judging from your post, she's thought about it before, so just put that thought back in her head with some sly wordplay.

Don't start out by trying to attach strings to her, don't make asking her out this big thing. Focus on being fun and flirty and escalating first, do your absolute best to make her want to rip your clothes off; the rest will follow if it's meant to be.

Just told her you went on a date with a really funny girl and told her how this girl is hot, some detail, maybe really nice lips or neck...something not so usual about her. You can go on real date with someone or made it up, doesnt really matter. Watch her reaction, if she is into you and just play hard to get, watch how she will crawl for your attention. Than you act all surprised about her behaviour and ask her what the problem, you two are just friends and you need a woman who get give you more than that, most important thing to tell her is that you two are just good friends, straight in to her face. That shit hits them like a train. Never tell any details she wants to know about your date. Keep it a secret. Have fun.
