Background: I'm 23, InCel throughout college and to this day, have a dream job I start on Monday, am relatively good looking and well spoken, and typically am confident. That all changed when I met this girl. I've been rejected before and had similar slumps, but I've never felt like a girl was into me and then just did a complete 180 and faded away.
I got burned recently by this girl; I thought she was into me and mistakenly went all in. We only had a couple dates, made out, but never had sex, and she flaked on the third date. Throughout the dates, I thought things were going well, but after we made out I kind of broke frame and began blabbing and bullshit. I knew immediately that I had fucked up, but kind of figured that it wasn't that big of a deal.
The bottom line is I lost attraction. I tried to get together with her over the following weeks, but whenever she responded, I could just tell something was different. She ended up telling me she was seeing someone else, to which I was kind of relieved because now I knew it was over. Then I foolishly asked her what turned her off, and she gave me more BS. I justified myself, foolishly, and now I'm stuck fighting with my ego.
I wouldn't be surprised if someone has read a similar story; I've posted it a few times, but I'm here for a different reason this time. I want to kill my ego. My mind and my gut accept that I'm never going to see her again, but my ego is holding onto this idea that maybe I will. Maybe she'll come back to me. Typing it out and reading it tells me how pathetic this is, but my ego simply will not accept this reality.
I was hoping someone could offer me some advice with killing this hope. I realize that I shouldn't be pursuing someone who isn't into me; I mean I should've seen this coming when she went from texting me daily, to almost never. I got baited though, and now I'm still on the hook.
Lastly, I know I need to meet more women, but my luck on tinder lately has been nil, and the city I live in doesn't really do events or have places to meet people my age. I'm moving in a month and a half where there are more opportunities, but until then I'm kind of stuck. I also realize that with my new job comes new opportunities to meet people, and I look forward to it, but until then I'm stuck with myself and my emotions.
Again, I just want to kill this idea that she might come back. Even if she does, with how pathetic my actions were, I don't even know if I'd want to see her.
Thanks for any replies.
