(Sorry if this question comes of as stupid, I'm new)

A ton of of people I have met on this sub has a straight up principle for building confidence, which is -"If you are not confident in your self, just fake it till you make it" Couple of books I've read, gives different ways to approach and interact, which is not so 'me'.

If I want to make these things my habit, I have to fake it for long long time, atleast even if I try something remotely diffrent from what I am.

But then people say, don't fake, be yourself, women can smell the fakers.

Kinda contradicts each other, which one is it? How do I improve if I can't try something different than what I am?

Thanks for reading:)
