I’m tired of picking sides. I’d rather focus on factors that both sides seem to be struggling with simultaneously.
In the United States, I think we’re reaping what we’ve sowed in terms of erosion of our overall mental toughness and fortitude.
We make excuses. We pass blame We’re hypersensitive to criticism We lose our identities in groups because we don’t want took at ourselves as individuals. We hyperfixate on other people’s flaws so that we can reject others before they can judge us fairly.
As a result, when we do try, people cons disappoint us. We don’t listen, and take what anyone says at face value We just interpret what we hear whatever we want as a projection of our own fears onto other people. Every opposing view, I matter how reasonable, is met with suspicion as bait for indoctrination into a toxic ideology.
Everyone demands honesty, but isn’t trusting enough to give honesty, and we always have a way rationalize and justify our own behavior and write the behavior of someone else.
We all want human connection. It starts with with being fair and honest. We’re all good at calling other people out their bullshit.
Let’s all stop trying to win arguments, and find truth in different opinions though discussions.
