'Misandry doesn't make men afraid to leave the house for fear of women.' — Not in a direct sense. But in a direct sense, neither does misogyny. Violence may start with prejudice, but violence happens because people are violent, not because they are prejudiced. Non-violent prejudiced people are not violent and thus do not pose a threat of violence. People don't fear to leave their house just because someone else is prejudiced against them, for example sees them in a biased light and downplays their achievements or overemphasizes their shortcomings, or prefers not to mix with them. Especially the last is important from a logical point of view. People preferring not to mix with us is of course not the largest of our problems, but is not something that makes us fear to leave our house. It may demotivate us from leaving the house because what point is there trying to socialize if people would rather socialize with someone else. If that makes us scared, then our fear is not of violence or danger but of rejection. Thus, rejection sensitivity. Perhaps some sort of RSD. And guess what, men have a fear of rejection (as opposed to violence) too. If we are talking about depression and anxiety combining into a sort of social phobia that makes you scared to leave your house, then yes, of course, men also have it. And they have it from misandry, whether that's misandry coming from women or misandry coming from fellow men (e.g. men believing themselves and other men to be inferior to women).

'Misandry doesn't make men have [fewer] opportunities than women [do/have]' — how could that possibly be true? Prejudice affects how willing we are to give opportunities to people — hire or fire people, accept or reject them, promote them or not, punish or reward, and the degree of severity, as well as the perception of red, yellow, green and other flags. It appears impossible for prejudice to not affect opportunities we allow other people to have, unless we have perfect self-control and can overcome or repress the prejudice. Almost nobody has that level of control. And there is nothing in misandry (whether in men or in women) to make it more controllable, defeatable or repressible than misandry (whether in men or in women).

'Misandry doesn't ruin men's lives' — if we accept that prejudice of any kind ruins people's lives or at least has the capacity to do so, and we generally accept that, then we would need to argue for the existence of a one-of-a-kind special exclusion for misandry, which would necessitate arguing that misandry has unique, one-of-a-kind qualities differentiating it from other prejudice and preventing misandry out of all prejudices from being able to ruin a person's life. I can't even speculatively see any remotely valid argument for such unique special mitigation of misandry. On the other hand, there seems to be the presence of a special — emotional? — desire to make misandry the singularly most benign and harmless of all prejudices. That points towards wishful thinking and an attempt to back an a priori conclusion by manufacturing fanciful arguments that are not logically valid. And a person's just feeling inwardly that misandry doesn't ruin men's lives is of course not proof of the objective truth of the statement (just like no other statement can be proved to objectively true by a subjective feeling).

'The only thing misandry does is disturb men's egos' — that's like saying that the only thing expressions of hate or wishes of death or violence or other calamity happening to a person only disturb their ego either in general, or when that person is a man, or specifically if that person is a man and the hate and violent wishes and other stuff are related to their being a man. Doesn't hold water. Also appears to be some sort of personal insult alleging a big but vulnerable ego. There is also an element of simplification, which is aligned with the insult and combines into a disparaging simplification. Men can't suffer, or they can but their suffering, just like their feelings, are (1) not legimate or valid and (2) not important in any case, because — and this is what one wants to believe rather than can reasonably infer and prove — (3) it is always reducible to not only wounded pride but wounded unreasonable pride or imaginary wound. Thus, it would follow that men are incapable of taking offence or feeling hurt for good reason because whenever a man takes offence or is hurt, that is always without reason or for invalid reason. Dare I say that the man's being a man is the invalidating factor here? His being a man is what leads to their feelings being nothing other than unreasonable pride or inflated self-worth?

On the other hand, and very importantly, wounded self-worth is a legitimate injury if the self-worth is legitimate. We would have no trouble agreeing that a woman's legitimate self-worth (objectively correct level/size of self-esteem) being wounded is a legitimate injury. So it should follow that if a man's correctly sized self-worth is wounded, then that too is a legitimate injury. Or is a man's self-worth always elevated, no matter what level it is at? If a man's self-worth is always elevated regardless of what height (i.e. elevation) it takes, it would follow that the only correct 'height' of a man's self-worth is zero or a negative number and thus, being worthless, he has not right to expect not to treated as worthless.

'Misandry and misogyny aren't at all comparable' — one could try arguing that frequency or intensity of manifestation differs or that consequences differ, but misandry and misogyny in themselves are direct parallels.

Being a feminist, just like any other political or philosophical stance, or being woman, just like being a man, is not an excuse for poor thinking or abandonment of logic or entering into a sort of rebellion against logic. Logic or facts or whatever. I get it that people's feelings are wounded and that those feelings are real, but that's like a real signpost showing a false direction or like a phantom pain that's real pain but the felt implication that you have a limb you don't objectively have is false. Feelings don't establish claims as true. Feelings can't cure defective reasoning or allow two claims that are in mutual contradiction to be simultaneously true. Yes, we have a right to contradict what other people's feelings tell them (and they us ours, vice versa).

Right off the bat...an appeal to emotion.

I sometimes don't like pulling a "emotions vs logic" card in these arguments because sometimes it makes me feel like an ass, as I truly believe in empathy for others feelings. And I also fully believe in listening to other ppls feelings.

But that can only go so far. And I can only have so much sympathy or empathy for people who demand everyone treat their feelings like truth so they can continue dehumanizing me and an entire group of people.

We need to repeat it until it sticks: If anybody used this language and mindset against literally any other group of people it would be called out as hateful bigotry. It really is that simple.

You feel unsafe walking out of your house because you've been brainwashed into it by pop feminism, not because of any widespread probability of harm to you at the hands of strange men.

At this point, my empathy is dried up.

Misandry can make men afraid to stay in their house for fear of the women in their lives. Women typically have more opportunities today than men do, and young single women earn more today than young single men do. I was regularly afraid for my life during my first marriage and it severely damaged me for over a decade after I got out.

Misandry and misogyny most definitely are comparable.
