Any of you ever had your partners "take the kids" to stay with their family/friends for a while?

My sister in law did it. Her husband was a POS and it was about time she protected her family. My dad took me once my mom involuntarily committed herself (this was 96 or 97). It happens. I’ve seen men do it with no repercussions.

So a tragic but hilarious story happened when I was a CPS worker, the sister of a mom in our caseload decided to go to another state and got high on meth. A bar owner’s daughter was dating the mom’s son, I think he was 16? So, the kid calls up to his gf whose mom then drives down and takes the kid. So I get wind of this as it’s on my caseload. I go to my supervisor and I said: One of our prominent business owners just kidnapped a child.

Well, it turns out the mom knew about all this shit, she only made this claim after I contacted that state’s CPS to figure out what the fuck was going on. Technically nobody called the FBI or law enforcement so it was really just an agreement between parties. It was all sorts of fucked. I told the bar owner: Look, the last thing we all want is you being charged with kidnapping across state lines, go bring the kid back.

There was nothing more I could do. I ended up leaving shortly thereafter. My PTSD took over. What I found out is the meth mom and her sister ended up dying in a car wreck. It sucks because several kids don’t have their moms, and their dads were nonexistent. More wards of the state.

I say this story is funny because from my end taking these calls, I couldn’t help but laugh at the absurdity of it.

I will say this, we definitely treat women with more leniency when they do drugs compared to men. We treat women sex offenders differently. It’s insane. One of the reasons I joined this sub is because I was part of a system that unfairly targeted men. I’m opposed to what happened. The same when I was a probation officer. There are things I can provide, hints if you will, when dads and men find themselves in fucked up situations. There are ways to get yourself out of trouble.

One interesting thing happened when mom was calling because dad’s gf was allegedly using meth around the kids. Well….mom’s weaponization of CPS discovered SHE was using meth. Don’t do drugs around kids. Don’t abuse kids. Don’t drink in excess around kids. That behavior is sure to get you in hot water. If you know baby mamma is? Report that shit. Have someone else report as well. The more calls, the more likely something gets done.

Went almost 2 years without seeing my children.

What my lawyer did to her in court wasn't even pleasant for ME.

Yes. Wife took kids to "party" but lied. She actually moved in with one of her family members and didn't tell me anything except they weren't coming home. I didn't know where my kids were for five days. Worst five days of my life. I didn't sleep the first three, drank myself to sleep on the fourth day.

I now have sole custody of the kids and she's supposed to be paying support. She doesn't. Doesn't have any contact with the kids really either. I have no idea how I spent so many years with this person I no longer recognize. Although, I think this is her true self.

Fucking sad.
