Yes there definitely is such thing as being too aggressive and forceful - and there's even a legal definition for it, too.

If you feel like you're scaring some girls, then you are definitely going in way, way too hard. Strong serious type is good and all, but if you don't balance that with a little bit of levity, you're missing Clint Eastwood and hitting Buffalo Bill.

I had this problem! Fixed it during my monk mode. Here's what I did as an example

1) goal, every conversation I had, inject 1 relevant joke.

2) goal, once a day approach someone with the express goal of making them give an honest laugh (wrinkle the corners of their eyes)

3) sandwich method, nice thing, critical thing, nice thing.

4) when someone began giving closed and protective body language, mirror it for a moment, then move to neutral. It means they're afraid or intimidated beyond use, that won't disappear if you go neutral, but it certainly had reduced stressful connotations to our interactions.

Worked wonders. I used to be a very funny, adored, and respected guy, then I became a respected, feared, desired guy, now I'm a respected, desired, funny guy, who people don't want to fail or disappoint.

Maybe you should check the way you interact with them , and/or the way you look at people , or even the way you are when they are looking at you . Maybe you are not in the mood . Try to be friendlier and more easy going . Try not to answer too fast and keep your voice strong but steady . Maintain a smile while talking to girls and tease them playfully .
