Generic messages like that, especially if they get generic DMs a lot, usually elicit scripted responses. It's not personable cuz you could've sent that to a 100 other women for all she knows.

I would personalize mines and get into detail about what her style makes me think of. I have a creative mind and like writing stories so this comes easy for me. Even if she has heard it before, the fact that you made it personally about her stands out to her. It also sets you up as well since now you can lean into that to keep the conversation going, which then helps create the context of "okay, she and I are talking for a while, we're locked in a conversation now." Once you get this working, then it's easy to transition into another topic, which you can easily introduce yourself, ask some "get to know you" questions to continue building up on that.

Here's the mindset to take. There's something about her that drew your attention to her. What was it? Once you identified the what, then ask yourself what it makes you think of, how it makes you feel, etc. A lot people don't realize this, but our bodies respond instinctively about such details when they see or hear it in the moment. Tapping into this is how you can find something to keep the conversation going and let it be natural.

Now if you did pay her a personalized compliment and she just said "thank you", I would say her not being interested enough to talk to you would be more the case here

Imo its better to say that in person most of the time or all the time you will get ghosted no matter how smooth the line is

Put yourself in their shoes & ask yourself what you’d answer to that type of question, especially if you barely know the person who just DM’d you.

What else is she supposed to say? It’s a comment that dozens of guys have probably made.

You need to ask a question or bring up a statement that can’t be answered with a “yes”, “no”, “maybe”, “haha” or “thanks” response.

Also, this is Instagram. If you’ve tried multiple times to talk to a girl & it’s going nowhere, then she probably just wants attention or isn’t that interested in you.
