Small tech school or university? Having doubts about my choice.

My field here at the school has a 100% place rate and I'd be making ~55k a year. I'm thinking I should have gone to a bigger university (would have majored in biotech/virology) but my parents really pushed for me to get the 2 year at the smaller school and they are paying for everything.

55K, and no debt? You will be way ahead on that. It would seem that you have made a sound choice. Plus you can transfer for the four year. Sometimes you have to defer short term excitement in favor of long term gains.

Get the 2 year degree(s) for yourself if you need the motivation, then transfer to a good 4-year.

If you DO change majors, but stay in STEM, most of your important GE will still count: math, physics, chemistry, etc....if your small tech school is accredited. And if it's not, then you really won't have an official 2-year degree anyway...and that concerns me...I've never heard of a real school (that is, one that doesn't advertise on The Maury Povich Show) that has a 'placement rate'. Yea, most real schools have a career center to help you look, and probably job fairs, but not an actual placement center.

If you're not planning on staying in STEM, stop wasting your time in school. If you still really want to know about art history, find out what textbooks a school uses, and buy it on amazon. Save tuition money for a degree that won't ever pay off.

RE: Women in school: yea, sorry buddy. Math is haaaaaard, so you ain't gonna see many womens in school. If you're going to school, it's for personal improvement, anyway. Your focus needs to be on the schooling. Once you're done with school, and are making better money, and are STABLE in your career, then you can focus solely on women. That's not to say you can't blow some time trying, in fact you probably should be, but don't focus on women when you're supposed to be educating yourself.

"The college experience" is where you fuck around on your parents' dime, don't get a real education, maybe get some pussy, drink a lot of booze, and enter the job market with a crushing amount of student debt and no worthwhile degree to help pay it off.

The short answer: anything less than a 4 year degree won't matter to a real job. That's pretty standard. IMO, and other highly educated people's opinions, if it's not a STEM degree, it's also a waste of time.

Who am I? I'm an electrical engineer, who started at a junior college, and only has 2 years worth of student debt.

In my field, most of those 2 year programs have an option to upgrade your courses after. Once you've done that you can start in the 3rd year of a 4 year program. Not sure about the options available to you, but it would be something worth investigating.

Get school out of the way as fast and cheaply as possible. Don't be the typical person loaded up with student debt.

Enjoy your work and it won't be work. Whatever you could "learn" in a 4-year is nothing compared to the knowledge available on the internet or business opportunities from 2 years of extra time.
