My (27M) wife (28F) is filing for divorce in FL. No children. I made some mistakes and choices, and had a Snapchat account under a fake name talking to other girls, and a random live cam under the same fake name. I’ve never slept with another woman in my life. We started dating in 2011 when we were in 9th grade and I’ve been with her ever since. She’s adamant that I cheated on her, and she’s done with me. We’ve been married for four years, have completely separate finances, but the only thing under both our names is the house (rough estimate value of $620k, owe $360k).

She’s told me I can keep the boat and my truck (combined value of $16k). I have always paid 70%-80% of the bills, (and the same percentage of the grocery shopping and cooking). I make 84k gross 52k after taxes/insurance. She makes $30k, $21k after taxes/insurance. She had a job offer in her field last year making triple what she currently makes, and she turned down the job because she would be unhappy. I supported her in this. I told her I didn’t want her to work somewhere she would be truly unhappy and feel regret going to, even if it helped our family. She’s extremely emotionally connected to her job, and she would have fallen into a fairly deep depression if she had left it. She owns a 2023 vehicle outright ($33k) which she only paid around $5k of her own money for, and the rest was paid for by her family. Her family has always sent her money, and helped her financially, which I never saw a cent of, except for the assistance with the downpayment on our home, which was around $18k in 2020. I have never asked for a cent or felt entitled to any of this, and I have continually supported her financially and career-wise despite her ability and opportunity to make more, because it was more important to me that she was happy where she worked. Despite all of this, she somehow wants to keep the house and pay the $2600 mortgage on top of all the utilities and bills. I do not want to keep the house. I’m firm in the belief we should sell it and split it equitably which I’m extremely willing to negotiate on.

She’s stated that she has the ability to take me for everything I’m worth (her lawyer’s words), but she’s being kind and she’s willing to discuss the distribution of our assets on the grounds she keeps the house. I don’t want to lose out in the equity that I’ve contributed to in this home.

I don’t deserve it, I was dishonest and disloyal, but I’m asking for advice and help. I can’t afford a lawyer. Im completely broke and broken… I’m terrified of losing what I have, but understand at the same time it’s a self fulfilling prophecy and I brought it upon myself. I’m just at a loss with what to do.
