I’m seeking recommendations for a civil rights attorney for northern Indiana. Here’s the synopsis:

As a divorce strategy my estranged wife obtained a protection order under false pretense. I was first served the protection order one day after my arrest on a warrant for violating said order.

The investigating detective violated numerous department policies during their investigation. The affidavit that served as the basis for my arrest failed to provide probable cause for my arrest and the detective failed to date the affidavit.

During my arraignment, I immediately asked for a speedy trial and proof of service of the protection order. Almost a year later, the prosecution is still unable to provide proof of service. My trial has been pushed back twice, once due to court congestion and the second time due to the prosecution filing for a continuance. The prosecution said it was ready for the first trial, but not ready for the rescheduled trial months later.

I have filed a complaint with the investigating police department’s internal affairs and an investigation has been opened. I made it very clear to Internal Affairs that multiple department policies had been violated by highlighting sections in the affidavit and cross referencing the departments SOP. It was verbally acknowledged to me by the PD that the violations are there.

I need help. I have not seen my children in almost a year. I’ve lost my job due to the arrest and cannot find employment due to the pending criminal case. Every piece of documentation I have supports my side of the story. This is a clear cut case of misconduct on behalf of the investigating detective and the charging prosecutor.
