My ex-wife had put a petition for child support this past December. Our hearing is on January 3rd.

I had been paying my ex-wife (we share two children she has sole custody) $800 ever since we divorced several years ago. The amount I was expected to pay based on New York state was roughly $650~ but I decided I wanted to be a nice father and pay more than that willingly.

Fast forward a few years later and I'm in a new country (not associated with any international Child Support agreements with the U.S) and been having a very difficult time trying to give her the $800 due to various circumstances including international exchange rates.

Ex-wife does not consider but current financial situation and tells me to pay $1000 from here on forth and she will not go to court.

I really wanted to just settle between us outside of court so I borrowed some money to give her the $1000 last month. She wrote a withdrawal of petition document and also an email to the court (which I later checked that they don't have a record of, but I do have a screenshot of her email that they responded saying that received her withdrawal).

Ex-wife tells me she won't attend the virtual hearing and if I don't attend then it will just disappear.

My question is:

I'm 100% certain she won't attend the virtual hearing (she's on vacation). Should I bother to attend? (even though the court date is still on)

Would it be possible to reduce my Child Support amount as I'm currently working minimum wage here in another country that is far below the U.S standard? (I do have foreign tax proof documents that requires English translation for the year 2023 and earlier.)

Any additional advice would be greatly appreciated.
