Just to start off, this is a bit of flashback to me to junior high. Haven't been told I'm not "someones type" in a while. It's a bit of a shock and ego blow, but let me set the stage a bit.

Background: going through an intense break up of a very long relationship. Also struggling with personal issues (childhood abuse) for the first time, and other things that make me feel pretty vulnerable right now.

Date 1: Meet the girl, we hit it off. She's into me. We spoon that night. We swap numbers.

Date 2: Meet up again, more flirting. Really hit it off, start to realize we are quite compatible. More texting.

Date 3: Realize that at this point in my life I really can't be fucking around with another girl, way too complicated in the wake of my relationship and personal discovery. Basically tell her that. We share some intimate details. That night I sleep in her bed but shoot down her attempts to hook up with me because I'm doing 90 days of celibacy and self discovery. Yet I'm confused because I'm human and I wanted to hook up with her and actually thinks she's cool.

Day after: She texts me, I tell her we have great chemistry but I don't think it's fair to pretend we can have a relationship because I'm on a personal discovery quest. I also say you know, it's confusing for that reason. She immediately says that's probably for the best because I'm too emotionally intelligent and "not her type" for a real serious relationship which is what shes looking for. Says she likes guys who are "mentally blank" because shes kind of nutty (which I picked up on and factored into my decision to not get too involved)

So TRP my question is: is this total horseshit, or is this really what happens when you're honest and open about what's going on in your life? They immediately get unattracted to you? The irony is I was kind of being up front that I wasn't interested in hooking up or dating, but the second I said "i'm confused because we have chemistry" she pounced that opportunity to say I wasn't her type even though 7 hours ago she was pawing at my dick.

Anyways - I had to get this out somewhere because honestly I feel pretty vulnerable right now. I realize this is exactly why I shouldn't be talking to girls because it just adds confusion and honestly being told I'm not someone's type is an ego blow. I was saying we can't be together because of life reasons, but she made it about me and my personality and that basically just hurt because I thought we were on the same page attraction-wise.

TL;DR girl's been trying to hook up with me. Second I get real with her and say I'm not in a good place, she says I'm not her type.
