This really shows the double standard when it comes to how men are treated in these situations. If a man had done the same thing to a female officer, he’d be facing years in jail and he would face serious problems finding work afterward since it would be on his criminal record. But here, even though it was a degrading assault, the woman gets a conditional discharge and can walk away without a record if she follows the conditions.

Can we say "soft bigotry of low expectations"? Yes...yes we can.

She still won't have a criminal record either after following the conditions of the discharge. So the fact she had no previous record, along with the meaningless aside about her "mental health medication" (I mean come on...she's an effing adult, so it's her responsibility for not renewing it...and besides, in what world is that a reason for grabbing someone's genitalia?), are in no way justifications for this laughable "We're terrible sorry we arrested you" decision.

I guess male police officers can be sexually assaulted and the worst that will happen is his assailant will be told: "Try to stay away from him for a year, okay?". Holy crap the Canadian justice system is a complete joke.

Once I got fined £80 for telling a bunch of Police officers to "go fucking die you cunts", I think the court was pissed off because one officer was clearly female.

To be fair, this happened in Canada and lenient sentences are not uncommon here. A few years ago I think there was a case when a male engineer received the same sentence (i.e. conditional discharge) for fingering an unconscious woman at a party, and there was outrage over that as well. Neither that nor this case got an appropriate sentence if we're being honest.
