We are going through the mediation process now. We've been married about 18 years and have 2 kids, 12 and 14. We are getting the house ready to sell and will move into apartments down the street from each other in June. All of the credit card debt will be paid off from the sale of the house and the leftover cash will be split. No current savings or retirement between the 2 of us.

I currently make 60K more than her and have agreed to pay all of the kids insurance and split whatever money I have left over after basic expenses. Our monthly expenses are virtually the same moving into our apartments leaving $2300 to split each month. The kids will be 50/50 split alternating each week.

We work at the same company but do not interact directly in our roles. The company is large but family owned and I would like to keep our divorce a secret for as long as possible for fears of how management will react. That being said, I would rather pay Alimony instead of child support so its not deducted from my check and will be obvious to everyone that we are divorced. Is this possible?

I can't think of anyway to make this as fair as possible. We both have agreed on how we split the money. If all of this is agreed to and signed off by both parties will the judge reject it because its not using the calculator and not going through child support?
