One thing I wanted to point out is that boys undergo sexual abuse at least at similar rates to thats of girls, and studies from many countries have also shown that boys are just as likely if not more likely to be sexually abused than girls.

A 1986 study by Emory University in Atlanta studying 571 sex offenders with 67,000 cases of child abuse inferred that the majority of sexual abuse victims are boys.
A 2018 study by the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, Baltimore, Maryland showed that boys were more likely to be victims of sexual abuse.
In 2017 study in India Government of India's Ministry of Women and Child Development discovered that more than half of the child victims of sexual abuse and rape were boys.
A global study with young adolescents aged 10 to 14 years from low income settings, inferred that boys were more likely to face sexual abuse than girls.

Boys are highly vulnerable to sexual abuse too and a large percentage of probably goes unreported or the due to lack of awarness the boys might not have known what was happening to them.

same harm done to a M and an F is perceived as greater harm when it's done to a F

hence you hear more about the problems such females have.

hence you don't hear as much about the problems men have

hence "girls have it harder"

In some cases they do. For instance, in one of my cultures the girls and women have to take care of every thing (food, cleaning, maintenance, reunions, dependents, care giving of elderly/kids) and the most the guys ever have to do is move things like chairs or organise travel. In some instances they contribute money mainly or partially, or do the whole "male role" of maintaining vehicles, the yard/landscaping, electric and plumbing but that rarely needs to be done as frequently as the female role. You are raised the same way in that the girls do not get coddled more than the boys, you crying? Tough luck, your ass will get beaten for crying like a lil wimp. And in addition to all that stuff the men can go looking however in dress and hair but the women have to dress "presentably" and do their hair nice. So between working, cooking for a bunch of people, cleaning, maintenance, reunion planning and prep, caregiving and having emotional suppression you also have to make sure you look immaculate. Leads to a lot of burn out.

There is also the whole speech that one US army person gave about how men do better in hostile conditions of war because the women's bodies give out sooner or whatever which is kind of related. Periods and all of that worsen one's health when under a lot of stress. So women do not do well with a lot of burdens physically nor mentally. But to be fair that is no excuse to burden men just means people need to ease up.

ETA: To the person who downvoted me, your downvoting does not change that it is the case for some cultures. That is the reality, your disagreement does not change that. The struggles faced are different and if you were to compare there can be a conclusion of better and worse even if it leads to oppression Olympics for some people. Obviously making it some kind of competition is never a good idea especially when each individual is affected differently based on their capabilities but there are general trends and most academics use those.

It isn't that we have it so much easier. It's that some families leave us alone during our formative years a lot more and don't even monitor us as strictly so in some cases they think we have it easier when we're literally just neglected.

It's why you've got so many young men with the thought process that they are all alone. Because during their most important years of psychological development they were. No one to monitor and teach you discipline. Just going out to play or staying in all day. No parent taking the time to consistently teach you things and lots more. Hell, my family had even forgotten and not noticed that I wasn't there in two separate occasions. 1st when I went with some older neighbours to hang out as a kid and arrived at night to find that they had locked everything up and didn't realise I wasn't there. 2nd when they literally left me at church because they thought that immediately after we got back I ran off to one of my close friends that I spend the whole day with a lot.

It's not that boys have it easier but that in a lot of cases we're just neglected and left alone to do and think stuff.
