I still don't get why so many people can't figure out why most people today don't want marriage.

Most women are hateful to men or at the very least don't take them seriously. Then the potential fallout if you divorce (can take your children, alimony, lose 50%). What benefit is there to marriage that can't be done some other way

I posted this; the video is 1 year old but I just found it and no reference on this reddit has been made. Addendum for those who do not know: Dr. Helen Smith is a psychologist who wrote a book 11 years ago:

Men on Strike: Why Men Are Boycotting Marriage, Fatherhood, and the American Dream - and Why It Matters

She had a variety of interviews after this over the next few years after the book was published in 2014 and you can find them on youtube. She talked about how society demonized men over 11 years ago, and in doing interviews with men for her book she showed that men just 'checked out' of society.

first time I've seen someone compare men's situation to Atlas Shrugged, and men "going Galt" - I don't think that MGTOW is necessarily the answer in the long term - if you willingly ostracize yourself you're only hurting yourself in a lot of cases. And, the thing with Atlas Shrugged was that the producers were going to this hidden community to produce without being exploited. A community of like-minded individuals. Men have a hard time forging this kind of community/connection with other males, and that hurts us. I think what we need to be teaching our young men is to separate purpose from the (admittedly powerful) urges to procreate. Our young men need to find their purpose before they find a long-term partner. And then stick to that purpose and goal. The paradox is that people usually like other people that have a purpose and know what they want out of life, but that people often times have a way of trying to change their significant other to fit the perfect image they have in their head. Men are put in this situation of being asked to change their purpose in exchange for sex, and too many men put their heads down and say "ok." Then it's off to the arguments about disinterested or disengaged males. Well no shit. You take away their purpose, or you minimize it, and now men don't know what to do.

What has Orion Taraban said that she hasn't? She has completely acknowledged the transactionality of marriage, the fact that men can get everything they get in a marriage from a regular relationship and that marrying should not be done.

We are talking about a book published A DECADE AGO. Although I haven't read it, I get a sense of unfairness for how little credit she's getting.

She was doing what James Sexton and Taraban are doing now.

What happened with her?
