I always cringe at the concept of an "alpha male" or anyone that brings it up. It is complete horseshit and always has been. There is no "alpha" or "beta", just men.

Alright time to be the enlightened centrist. If you thought that there could be nothing more retarded than the subliterate Red Pillers conception of the "alpha male" phenomenon then look no further than blue pill attempts to debunk it.

Yes it is true that the idea of an Alpha Male being the most aggressive and dominant wolf does not really play out in actual, real world, wolf behaviour. Does that mean the concept is not true for humans?

Of course not.

We often get things wrong about animals due to the fact that we are projecting things about ourselves onto them. See: the idea that the reproducing individual in a eusocial insect species is called a "queen" even though, upon closer inspection, her role is not at all alike to that of a monarch.

Was that why we made this particular error? No. And it wasn't even an error per se. It was true observation regarding wolves in captivity that was assumed incorrectly to be true in the wild as well.

In the wild wolves live in family units in which the dominant pair are dominant because they are the parents of all the other members.

In captivity the wolves are a bunch of unrelated individuals thrown together into a relatively small space and it is here where aggressive dominance hierarchies evolve.

It has been said by scientists eager to dispute the alpha male idea that this would be more comparable to humans in prison. The presence of a cage makes this comparison rather compelling but I can't help but notice that "a bunch of unrelated individuals in a small space" is just as descriptive of the average human workplace, or classroom or just about any space outside if the home.

In addition to this humans are not wolves or even canines, we are primates, and guess what primates definitely do have?

You've heard of a silverback gorilla I assume? Well it's not just gorillas. Our two closest relatives chimps and bonobos have a single dominant individual at the top of their social hierarchy who can command all the resources and (most importantly with regards to red pill ideology) fuck whomever they want.

So the Blue Pillers are essentially just wrong here and trying to weasel out of an uncomfortable fact about human nature with pedantry.

However that's not to say that the red pillers are correct either. There's a few challenges to their world view that are worth addressing. Firstly, bonobos are much more closely related to humans than gorillas and slightly more closely related than chimps an in bonobos the "alpha" is a female not a male.

Secondly, unlike wolves in captivity maintaining alpha status in primate societies is a little more complex than simply being the most aggressive and dominant. It requires the careful maintenance of social relationships. (Though to be fair I don't think that red pillers are claiming that to be an alpha male in human society you should literally beat everyone else into submission.)

And lastly the idea of "beta bux, alpha fux" is a little backwards. Generally, at least among chimps, the alpha is the one getting cuckolded by sneaky beta males. Yes they have to engage in beta provisioning to achieve this but it is the alpha who ends up mistakenly believing children to be his own that were actually fathered by someone else.
