Be good with women in general to be able to pick up women. But how?

I get this advice most of the time that in order to have a 10 HB girlfriend, you have to become good with women in general. My question is becoming good is too subjective. It gets me in the friendzone. I want to be good with women as a potential lover not a friend. So how I am supposed to behave with say eg. female colleagues, old school friends?
